Event Description Attention book lovers! Attend a MUSE Group Book discussion. Free and open to the public. The book for the month of October is Plainsong.
In the tiny prairie town of Holt, Colo., eight characters' lives parallel and intersect in ways typical of a small town. Tom Guthrie is raising his two sons while his wife sleeps. Victoria Robideaux is a pregnant and recently evicted 17-year-old and the elderly McPheron Brothers are the ranchers who take her in. Plainsong, a finalist for the National Book Award and the New Yorker Book Award, was written by Kent Haruf (2000). |
