Event Description
Originality, Imitation, and Plagiarism: Teaching Writing in the Digital Age
Plagiarism is oftentimes an uncomfortable topic in the academic world, but it’s also a unique, necessary, hot-button topic that involves student creativity, imitation, course design practices and pedagogy. In this collection of essays, editors Martha Vicinus and Caroline Eisner take the discussion farther than the familiar “Don’t do it” tagline by addressing a bevy of underlying issues and related instructional practices. Jeanne Smith, Director of the Writing Commons, will facilitate these sessions and discuss how faculty practices and student behaviors influence the writing process.
Thursday: Oct. 18, Nov. 1, 15 and 29
