May 22 - June 15 in the Downtown Gallery

The gallery will host an opening reception on Thursday, May 23, from 5-7 p.m. The opening reception is free and open to the public.

Drew Smith produces an impressive body of images in his current exhibition at the Downtown Gallery. From capturing stillness and tranquility within landscapes to documenting dynamic urban cityscapes, his photographs capture an array of subjects and themes. Architecture becomes abstracted, and candid portraits suggest stories of his travels. Inspired by formal elements within the environment and his surroundings, Smith creates compelling, elegant and breathtaking compositions. It is these formal properties that build his imagery.

Raised in an artistic family in Akron, Ohio, he developed a passion for photography early in life. Having worked for a local studio as well as professional photography labs, Smith currently works as a portrait and event photographer and resides in Akron. Meet Me at the Library: 100 Years of Libraries at Kent State University
The Library has for 100 years comprised the University's center for knowledge and learning, scholarship, exhibitions, lectures and programs, meetings and many other activities. Generations of students, faculty, administrators and visitors have passed through our doors. "Meet Me at the Library: 100 Years of Libraries at Kent State University" is now open in Special Collections and Archives. Photographs, maps, artifacts and a timeline commemorate the centennial of Kent State University Libraries.

Bibliomysteries: Bound by Crime
"Bibliomysteries: Bound by Crime" features a little-known mystery sub-genre, the bibliomystery - mystery stories about books and bibliophiles. This exhibit highlights just a few of the themes commonly found in this mystery sub-genre.

Fashion Prospective Day is a comprehensive program for prospective high school juniors, seniors, and college transfer students interested in either the fashion design or fashion merchandising major. This program offers attendees a group informational session presented by the fashion school advisors, a self-guided tour of the building and facilities, as well as the opportunity to visit the fashion library and the Kent State University Museum.
